ONLINE CLASSES
How do online classes work?
The classes are streamed live via Zoom and follow the traditional Ashtanga Yoga methodology, adapted for the digital format.
I am a beginner. Can I participate?
Yes. Before starting, we schedule a live introductory class or send videos with the initial step-by-step instructions so that you can familiarize yourself with the practice.
Do I need special equipment?
Just a Yoga mat, a clean and ventilated space, and, if possible, a camera positioned vertically, where the student's entire body is visible, so that the teacher can follow their practice.
CLASSES IN PERSON
Can I have a trial class?
In both online and in-person classes, it is possible to take a trial class with advance notice and upon payment of R$ 90.00. Should you decide to continue with the classes, this amount will be deducted from your first monthly payment. We do not charge an enrollment fee.
I am a beginner, I have never done Yoga. How can I start?
All in-person classes are suitable for beginners and practitioners of all levels. You can start at any time, even without prior experience. The practices follow the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method, with individual and progressive guidance.
For beginner students in the online class format, we offer a live introductory class to present the foundations of the practice and breathing. If you prefer, we also provide step-by-step videos with initial instructions, so that you can start safely and mindfully, at your own pace.
What is the format of the in-person classes?
The classes follow the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method, as taught in India — in the Mysore Style format, where each practitioner performs the sequence at their own pace, under personalized guidance.
Where do the in-person classes take place?
Based in Florianópolis (SC). Current address and schedules can be found on our booking page or by contacting us directly.
What do I need to bring to the class?
Your Yoga mat, comfortable clothing, and, if possible, a light towel or sarong. The rest of the material is provided at the studio/space.
MENTORING
How does the mentorship work?
The mentorship is personalized — an individual guidance program aimed at teachers and practitioners who wish to deepen their understanding of the philosophy, pedagogy, and foundations of Ashtanga Yoga.
Do I need to be a teacher to participate?
Not necessarily. The mentorship is open to anyone who wishes to understand Yoga in a deeper way, whether for their own practice, or for teaching.
What is the format of the meetings?
The meetings are held online, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, according to the needs of each student.
Which topics are covered?
Personal practice, Pranayama, study of the Yoga Sutras, class structure, ethics in teaching, and also how to cultivate a regenerative life as a whole.
SOMMA EPIC RETREATS
What are the Somma Epic Retreats?
They are immersive retreats that combine Yoga, Pranayama, art, nature, and ancestral ceremonies, guided by Aline Fernandes and special guests.
Are the retreats open to all levels?
Yes. The practices and experiences are accessible to everyone, regardless of prior Yoga experience.
How many spots are available in each retreat?
Spots are limited (generally, up to 10 people) to ensure an intimate and welcoming environment.
How can I reserve my spot?
Simply fill out the registration form and follow the payment instructions. Upon confirmation, you will receive the welcome material with all the guidelines.
PAYMENTS
How do payments work?
Monthly payments will be processed online via credit card / PayPal on the 5th of each month.
How do payments work for single (drop-in) or trial online and in-person classes?
Payments will be debited from the credit card / PayPal.
Is it possible to cancel the monthly payments?
Yes, but 30 days' advance notice is required before the start of the month you wish to cancel or suspend.
I paid for a single (drop-in) or trial online or in-person class, and I will not be able to attend. What should I do?
You can make up this missed class within 30 days of the date of your payment.
ABOUT THE CLASSES
How often should I practice Yoga?
The ideal is to practice 3 to 5 times a week, respecting your pace and availability. Consistency is more important than intensity. The intention of my teaching is for you to have support with me 2 to 3 times a week, either online or in person, and to incorporate this highly transformative tool of Yoga into your daily life.
How soon will I start feeling the benefits?
Every body and mind respond uniquely, but with regular practice, it is common to notice improvements in energy, sleep, breathing, and mental clarity within the first few weeks.
Are the classes only for women?
No. All classes are open to men and women.
Does Yoga replace other forms of physical exercise?
No. Yoga is a science and a path of self-knowledge of the mind, which uses the body as an instrument to access more subtle fields of consciousness. As a natural consequence, the physical benefits are deep and comprehensive — strength, flexibility, vitality, and balance become expressions of the inner work.
Are there any contraindications for the practice?
People with specific medical conditions must inform us before the class. The method can be adapted, but it is important to communicate any injuries, surgeries, or limitations.
Are the classes in Portuguese or English?
Classes are usually taught in Portuguese, but if necessary, both online classes and mentorship sessions can be taught in English.
